Sustainability and Community Initiatives

Accelerating initiatives for a more sustainable future

Leveraging digital technologies and advanced manufacturing processes to minimize negative environmental impact.

SyBridge Technologies has made significant efforts to advance sustainability initiatives across our manufacturing plants. Our green initiatives include reducing material waste, recycling scrap from operations and using post-consumer resins combined with energy-efficient practices in our manufacturing and office spaces. Our energy conservation programs include use of solar energy and energy-efficient lighting, as well as reducing waste water to help mitigate our impact on the environment.

Sustainable Manufacturing Processes

  • 3D Printing: By leveraging advanced 3D printing technologies, in many cases we are able to manufacture parts with less material waste due to the additive nature of 3D printing.
  • CNC Machining: Our design for manufacturability (DFM) checks for CNC machined parts include analysis of material utilization relative to part size, helping to reduce waste by ensuring the minimum necessary stock size is used.
  • Injection Molding: We are driving the use of runnerless molds to reduce waste plastic from molding operations across all our facilities. We have also collaborated with customers on cycle time optimization to help drive energy efficiency, improve quality and reduce rework.

Sustainable Materials

We are dedicated to utilizing sustainable materials and recapture processes whenever possible during the production of parts and products for our customers.

For example, when manufacturing parts using HP Multi Jet Fusion, most excess powder from builds can be reused in future projects when mixed with a percentage of virgin powder. We also participate in HP’s program to recycle un-reclaimed powder and scrap parts to create injection molding stock for downstream use.

With Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), options are available for sustainable filaments made from recycled or biobased plastics, such as oyster- and wheat-based Francofil® filaments. Additionally, pellet-based extruders can directly melt ground-up plastic chips for greater material recapture.

In addition to sustainable 3D printing materials, through active collaboration with our suppliers, we are showcasing co-injection technology as a way to incorporate large levels of regrind into injection molded products to help reduce waste.

Giving Back

SyBridge is proud to support the communities where our colleagues live and work. We are active supporters of education initiatives that help introduce the world of advanced manufacturing to young minds. We continue to support our community through a variety of outreach programs, such as:
